9:15am Operationalizing DEI in University Career Centers
Recent national surveys have found that activities that help students build social capital—things like networking, mentoring, and informational interviewing—have a significant impact on students’ reported confidence and clarity around career planning. Unfortunately, significant equity gaps persist related to participation in these activities among students of color and first-generation students. Building off the lessons learned from a recent program at the University of Connecticut, we will engage in an interactive session to help identify ways to operationalize DEI into our services to begin to bridge these gaps.
Discussion Hosts: Rick DelVecchio, Quinnipiac University & Wiley Dawson, University of Connecticut
10:15am Hiring in a Hybrid World: The Future of Campus Recruiting
As companies and universities start to emerge from the pandemic, they are faced with a new set of rules, attitudes, preferences, and outlooks for the world of work. Hybrid and remote work options are on the rise, attitudes about the role of work/life balance are shifting, and the interest in organizations that are truly diverse in people and attitudes have become front and center. Recruiting, hiring, and onboarding will have to change to face our new reality.
We will hear from four industry representatives from major CT on how the world of work and campus recruiting is changing
Moderator: Matt Caporale, University of New Haven
Employer Panelists: - Laurin Price, Hubbell Inc; Freddie Velazquez, Hartford Healthcare; Joe Lehocky, UBS; Jena Hook, Datto Inc.

INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION AT WWW.NEWHAVEN.EDU/EMPLOYERS
The Connecticut Career Consortium is proud to present the 2nd Annual CT Regional Cyber Security & Tech Virtual Career Expo! sponsored by Google!
With over 1 million open positions in cyber security around the world, and the need for college-educated talent in high tech and information technology, 15 schools from the Northeast have joined forces to make your search for talent easier. In one day, you can connect with students studying, researching, and building their path to success in the cyber security and technology fields.
Meet students in a virtual platform! Open booths and pre-scheduled appointments available.
We have partnered with Career Fair Plus, a leading provider of virtual recruiting events, to make your connections to students fast, easy, and beneficial.
Career Fair Plus is mobile and desktop friendly, and offers the following ways to engage students at your event:
Pre-Scheduled Meetings with Students: during the pre-scheduling period leading up to the fair, students may request a time to meet with you during the fair and you can schedule them in to ensure you meet with candidates for your roles.
Open Virtual Drop In Booth: you can host a virtual open booth where students come in and out to meet with you via chat and video. This option most closely approximates a traditional career fair experience.
Pre-Schedule and Drop In Booth: to get the best of both worlds, you can pre-schedule and host an open drop in booth. You will need more than one attending representative to manage this process.
Once you register, a representative from the University of New Haven will connect with you to build your booth and your preferences for pre-scheduling, drop in, or both. We will also send out all the materials, timelines, and information you will need to manage your booth. Visit this resources page for more info.
